Just another TGIF kind of day February 1, 2008

I woke up today with the back pain I was expecting. I could have set my watch to it, really. Typically when I do something to damage my back (ie. moving a 70lb box up a flight of stairs by myself) it’s a bit sore until the real pain kicks in about a day or so later. Now I’m in for a day or two of pain, slow walking and stiffness.
The drive to work wasn’t nearly as bad as expected after last night’s ice storm. In fact, it was much worse driving on Monday when no travel alerts were issued.
Today is appetizer day in our office. I just 
brought chips and dip so I don’t get points for originality or effort, but I don’t think anyone cares as long as they’re plenty of variety. My favorite today is Andrew’s grape jelly meatballs (see photo). Sure, this looks like an entry from ‘Don’t Eat it Steve!‘ but really, don’t laugh…they’re stupendous.
I’m planning to leave early today. The initial plan was to go see my chiropractor, but now I think I’ll go home and grab my cable box and make a trip up to Time Warner Cable and see if they have any HD boxes in stock. The Blu-Ray box is arriving today – just in time for Movie Day Saturday.
Tonight I’m hoping to see Chris and maybe a few of his buddies for some drinks to kick off the weekend. I spoke at length with his friend Dave last night, but never got a chance to really talk with Chris to find out what his plans are this weekend. I’m hoping he’s still planning to stay in Erie rather than go home to Pittsburgh. I have plans for the weekend that would be much easier to get done if he’s around.
I don’t really have a favorite for the Super Bowl this year. I suppose I will root for the NY Giants so we’ll see what happens!
It’s been a kick-ass week…and it’s only Wednesday January 30, 2008

This week is turning out to be the best of 2008 so far. And it’s only Wednesday so who knows what else is in store?
1. One of our least-liked co-workers put in his two-week notice. Not only did he get a job elsewhere, but he’s leaving town. He was likely going to fired within the next 6 months or so anyway so this works out well for everyone involved. He’s so well liked we’re having a going-away party for him AFTER he leaves so we can enjoy it.
I still have to pinch myself to make sure I’m not dreaming.
2. Another co-worker just left a week or so ago and the benefits of that change are already being felt.
3. I also found out I’m definitely getting a raise this year but I don’t know how much or when that will happen…but it should be retroactive to the beginning of the year so either way it’s good news. In 10 years I’ve always gotten a raise, but I’m hoping this one will get me a little closer to what I deserve to be earning.
4. Boyfriend Chris has been sick this week, so that’s obviously not good news. I hadn’t seen him for a few days but he came over last night and made the most of the ‘reunion’.
5. I just made a major purchase. Check it out! I chose the Sharp AQUOS 42″ 1080p Flat-Panel LCD HDTV. I also got a $500 Sharp Blu-Ray player for free and 3 fr
ee Blu-Ray movies. I’m picking it up sometime this week – just in time for Super Bowl LXII. I also need to wait until everything’s in place before I watch ‘The Bourne Ultimatum’. You just know that’s going to look sweet on an HDTV in a upconverting Blu-Ray player.
I’m waiting until BF Chris is feeling better so we can take a little road trip to go pick it up @ the Best Buy in Mentor, Ohio.
My cable provider offers a free upgrade to their HD service so I just need to pick up a new box.
I can’t wait until baseball season.
